Welcome to the Junior section of Chalke Valley Cricket Club.  2011 promises to be an even bigger season for our Juniors than last year.

We now have four age groups and three competitive teams, and more coaches than ever.  We also have a new non-turf pitch further over to the west of the ground – both for playing matches and for practice/coaching sessions.

Furthermore, thanks to the generosity of Pat & Tony Bath and The Horseshoe Inn, our Junior sponsors, we now have a brand-new top of the range Bola bowling machine – a truly fantastic piece of kit and a wonderful coaching tool.

Within the Junior pages of the website, we still have some advice about equipment and bat sizes, as well as consent forms and details of the ECB’s Safe Hands policy, which has been adopted by the Club.  Also on the site is information and contact details of the Club’s coaches.

We hope that children will learn to love this fantastic sport and that it will be something that remains important to them for the rest of their lives.  Our aim is to develop their cricketing and general athletic skills, but most importantly, we want them to have fun and to enjoy being part of the Club.

As a rule of thumb, Years 3 & 4 will be in the Under 9s, Years 5 & 6 in the Under 11s, Years 7 & 8 in the Under 13s, and Years 9-11 in the Under 15s.  However, at the coaches discretion, players may be moved up into different age groups depending on ability.  However, the District League rules are that children need to be under the below the age group age on 31/8/2010.

Must have been born after 31/8/2001

Under 11s
Must have been born after 31/8/1999

Under 13s
Must have been born after 31/8/1997

Under 15s
Must have been born after 31/8/1995

Cricket coaching will begin the week after Easter:
Under 9s – Wednesday 27th April and every Wednesday thereafter, 6-7pm

Under 11s – Wednesday 27th April and every Wednesday thereafter, 6.30-8pm

Under 13s – Thursday 28th April and thereafter Monday 9th May and every Monday thereafter, 6.30-8pm

Under 15s – Thursday 28th April and every Thursday thereafter, 6.30-8pm
