Rules
Code of Conduct
Every Member of the Club should respect the rights of others; should promote fair play; should abide by the rules of the Club and the guidelines laid down by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB); should display high standards of behaviour; should never exert undue influence over players and participants to obtain personal benefit or reward; should encourage team spirit and unselfish behaviour; should encourage and guide players to accept responsibility for their own performance and behaviour.
Membership
All Playing Members (including Veterans), Junior Members, Associate Members and Vice-Presidents shall receive a Membership Pack, including Club Rules, Constitution & Contact List. All Playing Members, Junior Members, and Associate Members will also receive a Club Number.
Officers of the Club
i) Chairman
The Chairman’s role is to act as a guide and a source of advice to the other Officers of the Club, and to be a role model and figurehead for the entire Club. The Chairman will sit on the Management Committee. [AMENDED 30/10/08]
ii) Vice-Chairman
The Vice-Chairman’s role is to also offer support and advice to those in the Club. The Vice-Chairman will not sit on the Management Committee.
iii) Club Captain
The Club Captain is the most senior Playing Member and the title is bestowed in recognition of his long standing commitment to the Club. His role is to support the other Officers in the Club, not least the Match Captain. The Club Captain is a member of the Management Committee.
iv) Match Captain
The Match Captain has the following responsibilities:
a) captaining the side on match days
b) organizing and selecting the team
c) ensuring tea is provided for home Sunday fixtures
d) ensuring there are adequate amounts of alcoholic and soft drinks available for home fixtures
e) ensuring a wicket and the ground has been prepared for home matches
f) liaising with the opposition captain when necessary (for eg on a wet day)
g) collecting match fees from the players and delivering collected monies to the Treasurer
It is perfectly acceptable for the Match Captain to delegate any of these roles, and to secure the help of others within the Club, but ultimate responsibility for their fulfilment rests with him.
Stand-in Captains must liaise with the Match Captain and/or the Secretary, but otherwise it is their task to fulfil the duties of team selection, pitch preparation and match fee collection.
The Match Captain is a member of the Management Committee.
v) Fixtures Secretary
It is the role of the Fixtures Secretary to organize and manage the forthcoming fixtures for every new season, both for normal Club games and Veterans matches. The Fixtures Secretary will not sit on the Management Committee.
vi) Honorary Secretary
It is the task of the Secretary to manage and organize the day-to-day running of the Club, to organize and write up any AGM or EGM, to organize the annual tour, any items of Club kit, clothing, ground equipment and materials, to recruit and manage the Club Members and to assist the other Officers of the Club in any way he can. The Secretary is, along with the Treasurer, one of two signatories for the Club accounts. The Secretary is a member of the Management Committee.
vii) Honorary Treasurer
It is the task of the Treasurer to organize and manage the Club finances and accounts. This includes book-keeping and ensuring that annual subscriptions are paid and that match fees are collected. The Treasurer is a member of the Management Committee.
viii) Senior Coach
The Senior Coach is responsible for organizing coaching sessions of Juniors and any adult players and liaising with the other coaches with regards to the year’s coaching programme. He is also to help other coaches develop and to offer advice and support when required. The Senior Coach is a member of the Management Committee.
ix) Veterans Captain
The Veterans Captain will be the match captain for Veterans Matches and it is his job to organize and select a team, collect match fees, organize teas, liaise with the opposition captain, and also with the Secretary with regard to pitch preparation. The Veterans Captain will not sit on the Management Committee.
x) Welfare Officer
It is the role of the Welfare Officer to be the point of contact for all Club Members regarding any concerns of allegations, to ensure that First Aid is maintained, that Codes of Conduct and Child Protection Policy are maintained and to ensure that all coaches have been CRB checked. The Welfare Officer is a member of the Management Committee.
Match Days
It is the responsibility of every player to help get out kit and furniture for the match and to help pack up and tidy them away after the game.
Teas
Teas should be prepared for all home Sunday fixtures. Whoever is organizing the tea shall have £33.00 to spend on ingredients. Teas should be ready for 5pm, and fifteen glasses of water or squash should be provided half-way through each innings.
Dress Code
Players should wear whites for all matches. All Associate and Playing Members should wear the correct Club sponsored shirts.
